TAP

Industrial telephone TAP

TAP industrial telephone - reliable communication where conditions are unforgiving

The TAP industrial telephone is a corded endpoint designed to operate in the harshest environmental conditions. Noise, dust, high humidity, and mechanical stress—the TAP operates reliably where a standard office phone would fail after just a week.

DESCRIPTION

Where does TAP work best?

The device is designed for use in industrial facilities, both indoors and outdoors. Typical installation locations include production halls, construction sites, warehouses, guardhouses, and underground areas of non-methane mines and mining plants. The IP65 rating ensures complete dust and water resistance – the device operates flawlessly even in the immediate vicinity of a car wash or in heavy dust.

Signaling you won't miss

In a noisy industrial environment, incoming calls must be heard and seen. TAP offers a 90 dB ringer (at 1 meter) with four volume levels—from a quiet signal at your workstation to full volume in an open shop. A high-intensity red LED flashes when a call arrives and glows softly when idle, making it easy to locate the handset in dimly lit rooms.

If the bell and LED alone are not enough, TAP allows you to connect an external acoustic or light signaling device via a built-in relay with NO contact.

Solid construction for many years

The powder-coated steel sheet housing (or 316L stainless steel for the INOX version) provides mechanical strength unmatched by plastic housings. The device operates in temperatures from -40°C to +60°C and with humidity up to 95%—making it suitable for both cold rooms and hot foundry halls.

Simple operation, advanced functions

The 16-button foil keypad is stain-resistant and easy to clean. Each button can be assigned a speed dial number—a single touch is all it takes to connect with dispatch, health and safety, or service. The automatic redial function eliminates the need to search for a number in emergency situations.

FEATURES/TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

Can TAP be used in a mine? Yes, the device is approved for use in non-methane underground mines and mining plants. Other Ex-certified devices from Elektrometal are designed for methane (explosion-hazardous) zones. Contact us to select the right device for your specific zone.

What is the ringer volume and can it be adjusted? The chime reaches 90 dB at a distance of 1 meter—an effective level even in noisy production halls. The volume is adjustable in four modes (HIGH, MED, LOW, OFF) by setting a jumper inside the device. When the sound is completely muted, the LED indicator remains active.

Can I connect an external light or sound signal? Yes. The device is equipped with a built-in relay with a NO contact that can be used to control an external signaling device (audible or visual), with or without its own power supply. A 10-30 V DC power supply is required at the POWER input.

Does the device work with an existing telephone exchange? TAP is compatible with any standard PBX with analog subscriber lines. DTMF tone dialing ensures full interoperability with modern PBXs.

At what temperature can TAP operate? The operating temperature range is -40°C to +60°C, covering both industrial cold stores and hot production halls. The device should not be stored at temperatures below -20°C (prior to installation).

What color and material options are available? The device is available in black (standard), any RAL color (upon request), and in 316L stainless steel (INOX)—both with and without a protective cover. A total of 6 catalog versions.

How many numbers can be programmed into the phone's memory? Each of the 16 keypad buttons can be assigned a speed dial number (accessed via the M button). There's also an option to automatically dial a pre-programmed number upon hanging up, with a programmable response time of 0-10 seconds.
