Gas meters for gas industry applications

Elektrometal's offer includes: gas meters designed to measure the consumption and volume of gaseous fuels in various types of installations. This category includes solutions using different measurement principles: electronic bellows gas meters, ultrasonic gas meters, rotary gas meters, and turbine gas meters.

The differences between these devices are not limited solely to technical parameters. Individual types of gas meters utilize different measurement mechanisms and are intended for different applications. Therefore, the right choice should primarily be based on the nature of the installation, the type of gas being measured, and the required measurement parameters.

What types of gas meters are offered by Elektrometal?

The offer includes, among others:

  • EM-eG4 electronic bellows gas meter – a device connecting the mechanical measuring system of a bellows gas meter with an electronic counting module and wireless communication,

  • EM-uGx ultrasonic gas meter – a solution using a fully electronic measuring system, without mechanical moving parts,

  • rotary gas meter – a displacement meter in which the measurement is performed using two counter-rotating rotors,

  • turbine gas meter – a device whose operating principle is based on measuring the speed of flowing gas using a turbine rotor.

This differentiation allows the selection of measurement technology appropriate to the specific system and method of operation, without treating all gas meters as interchangeable devices.

Electronic gas meters and remote reading capability

A separate part of the offer consists of solutions equipped with electronic and communication functions.

EM-eG4 It utilizes a bellows gas meter mechanism and an electronic counting module. Available versions support NB-IoT or 2G/NB-IoT/Cat-M communication, allowing measurement data to be transferred to operator systems. The device is designed for measuring gaseous fuels in residential buildings and industrial facilities.

On the other hand EM-uGx It performs measurements using an ultrasonic system. In addition to its basic measurement functions, the device can support data and event archiving, as well as select radio interfaces. The manufacturer also provides EM-uG1.6, EM-uG2.5, and EM-uG4 variants with different measurement ranges.

Rotor and turbine gas meters – different measurement principles

In case of rotary gas meter Volume measurement is performed in measuring chambers using two counter-rotating rotors. This solution is offered for applications in the gas-powered industry, the chemical industry, and furnace production, for natural gas, town gas, propane, and inert gases.

Turbine gas meter It utilizes a different operating principle. The gas flow causes the turbine wheel to rotate, and its rotational speed is related to the gas flow rate. The manufacturer specifies a similar range of gas types and industrial applications for this solution.

The distinction between bellows, ultrasonic, rotary, and turbine technologies is therefore important at the level of the measurement principle itself. Only then should the measurement ranges, operating pressure, connection method, available communication functions, and other parameters of a specific model be compared.

Gas meter as an element of the gas system

The gas meter does not function independently of other devices in the installation. In reduction and measurement points and systems, it cooperates with, among others, elements responsible for pressure reduction and connecting devices. The electrometal indicates bellows gas meters, home reducers and connections as elements of the equipment of reduction and measurement points.

Therefore, when analyzing the entire system, it is worth going through the categories as well reducers and to the parent category gas equipment .
