Gas reducers

Gas reducers are devices designed to reduce gas pressure to the level required for further installation. Elektrometal offers solutions for both smaller-scale gas installations and distribution and industrial systems.

The category includes, among others, reducers from the family MIX-10/2 and direct-acting devices S22 and S23 Individual solutions differ in pressure range, design, and intended use, so they should be considered as devices designed for different types of installations, rather than as models with the same application.

Pressure reduction as an element of the gas installation

The purpose of a reducer is to change the gas pressure between individual parts of the system. Depending on the intended use, the device can be compatible with systems powered by natural gas, LPG, or another medium approved for a specific model.

An example of a solution intended for gases of the second family according to PN-EN 437:2021 is MIX-10/2 reducer The manufacturer intends it to be used in installations where gas is distributed at medium pressure, even when replacing earlier types of reducers. The design retains the overall and mounting dimensions of the earlier MIX version, which is important when modernizing existing installations.

Direct acting reducers S22 and S23

Another group consists of direct-acting pressure reducers.

S22 It utilizes a balanced piston design and is designed for operation at low, medium, and high pressures. The manufacturer recommends applications including natural gas, industrial gas, and LPG systems, as well as for non-corrosive liquids.

S23 is a line of regulators designed primarily for distribution and industrial systems and for installation in pressure regulation stations. Devices in this series can operate in natural gas, industrial gas, LPG, and other previously filtered, non-corrosive gas networks. The "top entry" design allows for service access from the top without having to remove the housing from the pipeline.

Reducer at the reduction and measurement point

In a gas installation, a reducer often works in conjunction with measuring and connection devices. Elektrometal recommends reducers, bellows gas meters, and connections as components of the equipment at reduction and measurement points.

For this reason, a reducer should not be considered solely as a standalone component. Its parameters should meet the requirements of the entire system, including pressure values upstream and downstream of the reducer, the type of medium, and the required throughput.

When analyzing the complete system, it is also worth going through the categories gas meters and to the parent section Gas industry A wider range of solutions for this sector is described on the website Solutions for the gas industry .
